Pollution Control Units (PCUs) are the last line of defense between your kitchen exhaust and air quality fines. These rooftop units hold pre-filters, HEPA filters, electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) and odor control media.
When a PCU is neglected, the filters load up and airflow drops. The kitchen exhaust system backs up, smoke collects in the kitchen, and unfiltered grease vapor escapes into the surrounding neighborhood.
PCU Tear-Down Protocol
Many hood cleaning companies do not service PCUs. Taking one apart safely, including its high-voltage components, takes specific training.
SDI takes large PCUs apart and services them fully. We remove, chemically clean and pressure-wash the core components, replace spent filter media, and reset the airflow sensors to the manufacturer's specifications.
