The Urban Exhaust Problem
In dense urban areas and mixed-use buildings, cooking odors that leave the roof can lead to municipal fines, neighbor complaints and, in some cases, orders to shut down.
Commercial odor control systems use activated carbon V-banks or potassium permanganate media to trap odor molecules. Once the media is saturated it stops working, and exhaust odors pass straight into the surrounding residential or commercial air.
Media Replacement and Housing Cleaning
Swapping the carbon trays alone is not enough. Odors build up in the steel housing of the unit itself. SDI replaces the spent media and scrubs the inside of the housing with an enzymatic cleaner to remove the odors left behind.
