The First Line of Defense
Stainless steel baffle filters are the first stage of your exhaust system. They force smoke and grease vapor to change direction quickly, so the heavier grease hits the steel and drains into the grease trough.
When the baffles are overloaded and the drain holes clog, the filters stop working. Smoke builds up in the kitchen, and grease vapor is pulled past the filters and into the ductwork.
Filter Soak Cleaning
Running baffle filters through a dishwasher tends to bake the grease onto the steel. SDI uses heavy-duty caustic soak tanks. We submerge the filters in a hot, high-alkaline solution that breaks down hardened carbon and clears the small drainage channels, then finish with a high-pressure rinse.
Extraction & Swap
Immediate removal of the fouled filters to prevent cooking delays.
Hot Caustic Soak
Soaking the baffles in 200°F caustic vats to dissolve polymerized carbon.
High-Pressure Rinse
Flushing the inside channels of the baffle to clear the small drain holes.
Trough & Rail Detailing
Scraping and degreasing the hood's filter rails so filters seat properly and drain freely.
How We Do It
Grease left to build up in the exhaust system is a leading cause of restaurant fires. Hood Filter Cleaning is part of how we keep the complete system, hood to rooftop fan, at the NFPA 96 fire-safe level, with photo documentation of every section.
We work to NFPA 96, cleaning the accessible ductwork to the fire-safe level the code defines. Every job ends with photos and a Certificate of Performance, ready for the fire marshal and your insurance carrier.
Uncompromising Standards
Every surface is cleaned, checked and photographed before the crew leaves.
NFPA 96 Mastery
Strict adherence to the National Fire Protection Association codes for ventilation control and commercial fire protection.
Complete System Cleaning
We don't just clean the visible hoods. We clean the complete system, hood to rooftop fan, to the NFPA 96 fire-safe standard, with photo documentation of every section.
Photographic Evidence
Time-stamped before-and-after high-resolution photographic reports delivered after every service, ready for local inspectors.
